Netopia Static IP Setup

This article covers the setup of a Netopia Router on the Bellsouth Fast Access DSL Network.  This assumes that you already have your IP address settings from Bellsouth and it is at its factory default settings.  You will also need your fast access user name and password.

  1. Connect the Netopia Router/Modem directly to your server.
  2. Complete an IP Renewal using a command prompt using ipconfig /release then ipconfig /renew. ( Your IP Address should be in the range of 192.168.1.X)
  3. Open up your web browser and go to http://192.168.1.254
  4. Enter Your Username and Password and Connect
  5. Once the setup is completed you will need to enter 'Expert Mode'
  6. Once in Expert Mode click 'Configure'
  7. Click the 'WAN' link
  8. Click 'PPP Over Ethernet'
  9. Remove Check on NAT
  10. Click Submit
  11. Click the 'LAN' link
  12. Replace the 192.168.1.254 with your LAN IP Address (This is typically the 2nd Number in your IP Range)
  13. Replace the 255.255.255.0 Netmask with the Netmask provided by Bellsouth
  14. Click Submit
  15. Click the 'DHCP Server' link
  16. Enter the Starting IP (Usually the 3rd number of the IP block)
  17. Enter the Ending IP (Usually the last number of the IP block) 
  18. Click Submit
  19. Click Security
  20. Click Stateful Insp
  21. Click on Exposed Addresses
  22. Click Add
  23. Enter the beginning IP Address (This will be the First IP Address in your range)
  24. Enter the last IP Address (This will be the Last IP Address in your range)
  25. Click Submit
  26. Click on the yellow ! at the Top Right of the screen
  27. Click 'Save and Restart'

Congratulations, your Netopia Router is now setup!

Now you will need to setup your Zywall, Linksys,D-Link or SMC Router to accept the new ip addresses.
